Po navedbah virov je Iran ustavil usmrtitve protestnikov, zaradi česar je ameriški predsednik Donald Trump začasno ustavil vojaške priprave. Trump je sicer v Varnostnem svetu ZN opozoril, da so vse možnosti glede Irana še vedno na mizi. Kitajski predstavnik v ZN je ZDA pozval, naj opustijo grožnje s silo. Zaradi umiritve napetosti so svetovne cene nafte padle za štiri odstotke.

Zaradi brutalnega zatiranja in vse večjega pritiska varnostnih sil so iranski državljani začeli množično zapuščati državo. Turške oblasti na mejah opažajo povečan pretok ljudi, ki bežijo pred nasiljem in morebitnimi povračilnimi ukrepi režima v Teheranu. Mednarodna skupnost z zaskrbljenostjo spremlja dogajanje, saj število ubitih in zaprtih oseb še naprej strmo narašča.

V Iranu so se nadaljevali protivladni protesti, ki so trajali že 13 dni. Poročali so o 51 smrtnih žrtvah, med njimi je bilo 9 otrok. Iranski vrhovni voditelj je napovedal skorajšnje zatrtje protestov. Predsednik Trump je število smrtnih žrtev pripisal stampedom, čeprav so videoposnetki pokazali, da iranske varnostne sile streljajo na protestnike. Zunanji urad Pakistana je pozval pakistanske državljane, naj se izogibajo nepotrebnim potovanjem v Iran zaradi naraščajočih nemirov.

Protesti v Iranu so se razširili že v drugi teden, pri čemer je bilo po navedbah skupin za človekove pravice ubitih najmanj 16 ljudi, na stotine pa aretiranih.
